The Developmental Disabilities Division of Black Hills Special Services Cooperative works with people, organizations and community partners to improve lives, supporting the people who choose our services to get the lives they want.  We are one of 19 Community Support Providers (CSPs) in South Dakota.  We support both children and adults utilizing the Home Community Based Services Waiver and Family Support 360 Waiver.  Of the 25 Family Support Coordinators in South Dakota, BHSSC employs six.

In addition to Waiver services, we also have a diagnostic team that completes Autism evaluations, provides consultation and presents at forums and conferences.

“Working Together to Achieve Goals and Dreams!”

You will see our mission statement on each page of our website.   It reflects who we are, what we do and how we do it – a cooperative in partnership with others as they discover, define and reach for their goals and dreams.

We offer service coordination, education, employment services, residential options and a variety of related services such as speech therapy, occupational therapy, transportation and dietician consultation.

Working with people to help them achieve their goals and dreams requires a multi-faceted approach:

  • On an individual level we engage in person-centered assessment and discovery which leads to person –directed plans for individual services and supports.
  • On a community level we continuously foster relationships with local service providers, organizations and government entities.  These reciprocal relationships benefit all parties involved.
  • On a statewide level we advocate for change through the legislative process and by serving on state-wide committees and boards.
