Based on their needs and preferences, BHSSC residential services include a wide variety of options.  People choose between small BHSSC community based homes, a small group foster home, family foster homes, supervised apartments or supported community living in their own homes or apartments.

BHSSC-owned residences are located in Sturgis, Whitewood, Lead and Hot Springs.  People living in our group homes have 24 hour supervision.

Our small group foster home is in Belle Fourche and our licensed family foster homes are in the Northern Hills communities of Sturgis, Lead, Spearfish, Belle Fourche, Whitewood and Piedmont.

People live in supervised apartments in both Sturgis and Hot Springs.  The apartments have staff available during all waking hours. We have a nurse on call 24 hours a day.

Supported community living serves people who live in their own homes/apartments.  Depending on what the person wants and needs, life skills coach and a nurse may assist with: budgeting, grocery shopping, cooking, safe living, transportation, medical coordination and what is needed to promote full participation in community life.
